To be successful in applying for and getting an online accounting job, you must be a self-starter and motivated to work in a non-office environment, like your home, with all the inherent distractions. Also, remember, education is fine, but practical experience is the key. You must be computer-capable (Quickbooks, et al). Able to perform detailed accounting tasks from start to finish, including data entry through AP, AR and expense tracking, to general ledger posting and maintenance, accurately and efficiently. You must also possess a keen attention to detail, strong organizational and problem solving skills. Dependability and a can-do attitude are imperative. Saying you’ll try, means you’ll fail.
