How much can you earn?
A good medical transcriptionist can earn money online from $500 to around $750 per month but companies may differ in their rates and pay.
Qualifications
Transcription companies differ in their requirements. For example, some require their transcribers to have a typing speed of 225 words per minute while others are fine with at least 70 wpm. Do note that a number of transcription companies also require their applicants to be residents or citizens of USA or Canada so make sure to check their list of requirements and qualifications first before applying especially if you are neither from these two countries. You also have good chances of getting hired by online medical transcription companies if you have prior years of experience in the field of medical transcription.
MT companies hiring transcribers to work from home generally require applicants to have a high speed internet connection, a contact number where they can be reached and a transcription software. Some companies such as Tigerfish require applicants to have a copy of a transcription software (e.g express scribe transcription) prior to getting hired for test and evaluation purposes. Foot pedal and headset may also be required.
